Welcome to the „Centar za kulturu Pokret zvuka“ web, which stands for „The Movement of Sound Culture Center“. Our goal is to gather dancers, musicians, creative and cheerful people, and to develop interesting projects together. We organize and hold courses and workshops, events and performances, we perform in arts, dance and music, and so on. The text you’re reading will give you a briefing on our work and present our plans and ideas.

This web’s main page brings always the most recent posts on new events. Since those are written on daily basis, for now we can’t manage to write them in English as well. However feel free to write us about anything else you’d like to know about and to get in touch!

The idea behind this Center came from various experiences we’ve had and learned, and which we wanted to gather all in one place. The part concerning sound is led by Ivan Uravić – Urkke; he’s in charge of music and rhythm, and holds courses and performs. He is also a webmaster. The Movement is by Iva Juršić Uravić – Yvaine, an Oriental dance teacher and performer. Tribal Fusion and Croatian ethno dances, as well as Indian and Oriental (Egyptian, Turkish) dances, make up the basis of her style. Lina Šojat – Lynn writes most of the posts on the web site, she is in charge of public relations, and relations with the media. Margita Šurkić – MargiLove is event organizer, dancer and drummer in CPZ.

Up to now, we have held and/or organized many events, such as guitar courses and workshops, oriental dance workshops and courses, rhythm courses, and CTF style dance courses. We have also organized performances in collaboration with other artists, such as was the Orient Under Construction show in Zagreb (January 2009.) by Manca Pavli from Slovenia, or the Bellylove performance evening (February 2009) featuring many Croatian dancers, and so on. We have appeared on croatian TV stations (HTV, RTL) many times, and our projects are up to date in the local newspapers and web portals.

Our projects:

1.) CTF – Croatian Tribal Fusion – is the merging of Tribal Fusion and Croatian ethno. Inspiration and motives for it are found in Croatian folklore, traditional dresses, robes and garments, jewelry and decorations, national instruments and music. They meet within modern versions of music, choreography, jewelry and scenography.

Groups that are a part of this project are:

- I&I Peninsula Fusion – one female dancer and one musician perform together, live music with electronic background. The choreography and music are original creations, and it is mostly a very modern interpretation of traditional dance and music. Their performances are usually very energetic and strong. he members are Iva Juršić Uravić – Yvaine and Ivan Uravić – Urkke. Watch I&I Peninsula Fusion.

- Ly Creativa – the dance group was formed in 2008. and first appeared at the Špancirfest festival in Varaždin, Croatia. The very unique style wowed the audiences with its positivity and originality. The dance, the music arrangements, and the costumes were all new and original to the Croatian Belly dance scene. Based on the ATS (American Tribal Style), tribal fusion and Croatian folklore, the dance is arranged to Croatian contemporary ethno music. Home made costumes were also designed as to be something in between traditional and Tribal Fusion style. The members are Iva Juršić Uravić – Yvaine, Kristina Kovačić – Keelin, and Lidija Jambriško – Lydia. Watch Ly Creativa.

2.) Malfoofas Io Band – are not a typical drumming band. They play Oriental rhythms using wooden spoons, buckets, bottles, boards, finger cymbals, tablas, … and who knows what else they plan to play on. They reason that the kitchen appliances, utensils, and tools are pretty good musical instruments. The band was formed at the end of an Oriental rhythms course held by the CPZ, since the members wanted to continue working and performing together. Members are: Ivan Uravić – Urkke, Iva Juršić Uravić – Yvaine, Margita Šurkić – MargiLove, Sonja Šparica, Mirjana Meštrić i Ivana ŠarićListen to Malfoofas IO Band.

3.) Magic wood - Project of CPZ, description coming soon. Till than watch video. :)

Notice:

There are so many photos published on our web site at the moment! We know who the authors of most of them are, and those photos have been signed. But we’re still a bit worried about those photos for which we don’t know who made them.

And so, if you’re a professional photographer, an amateur cameraman, or a passer-byer who happened to pop an excellent photo – if you find your photo on our site, make sure to let us know and send us your info (name, occupation, link, email, or a desired signature) so that we could sign it. And in case you’d like your photo removed, tell us as well. And, of course, excuse us for not signing your photo (yet!) – we probably found it somewhere, or it just flew into our inbox! :-) Contact e-mail: lina(a)pokret-zvuka.com
